Listening Program curated by Dominik ‘t Jolle

Sat 24 Oct 2020 - 15:00 to 22:30
Provinciaal Domein Dommelhof, Toekomstlaan 5, 3910 Neerpelt

The Belgian sound artist Dominik 't Jolle was invited to curate in the context of the festival a listening program. The programme will examine the complex relations between our sound environment, the economic and political purposes of the current systems we are living in and the growing state of emergency regarding the global climate crisis. The focus lies on field recording as a musical tool to explore new connections and imaginations that question the origin of sounds and vibrations which emanate from societal machinery, both ecological, social and economic. Central is the impact of our sonic environment on our human and non human natural behaviour. The artists were invited to send in new and existing pieces of maximum 20 min. Especially for the program, a quadraphonic immersive listening space will be created, in which pieces will be live performed and listened to. Because of the current situation, not all artists will be present at the festival, but will introduce their soundpiece via online communication.

With listening pieces and performances by:

  • Kate Carr - Heatwave
  • Anja Kanngieser - Mining the Deep
  • Slavek Kwi - tba
  • Maria Komarova - 555 bugs
  • Philip Samartzis - The Blizzard
  • Thorsten Soltau - Refugium
  • Tarab Eamon Sprod - tba
