Félix Blume - Doors of Listening (working title)

Fri 23 Oct 2020 - 09:00 to Sun 25 Oct 2020 - 17:00
Klankenbos, Toekomstlaan 5, 3910 Neerpelt

The residents of the refugee shelter in Pelt take you along in their stories and living environment. Listen in the middle of the forest to their voices and soundscapes through the doors of some villagers. With this work, Sound artist and field recordist Félix Blume invites everyone to listen as a means of mutual understanding and critical thinking. Like a tacit mass, the doors wait for you to come closer with your ears and make time to meet those who may already be in a different place. The sound vibrates inside the doors, deep in the material.

The installation is the result of a collaborative process between the residents and the artist. In a participatory process with different workshops, they are guided to express themselves through sound. Through the doors, you hear songs, stories, voices and dreams of people on the run, who temporarily make Pelt a home. They literally get a place in the landscape and in this way claim their presence and audibility.

Félix Blume (FR) is a sound artist and sound engineer who works and lives in Mexico and France.
