Stijn Demeulenaere is fascinated by the versatility of sound: its directness, its malleability, but also its mystery. Field recordings from all over the world form the basis for installations, soundscapes and performances. Each of which depicts a whole imaginary world, from which grows a better understanding of the human habitat.
The installation 'Zijlijn/Linea Lateralis' investigates the impact of human sound on natural marine life, through underwater recordings made along the Belgian and Norwegian coast.
