Workshop Pauline Mikó - music with plants (cancelled)

Sun 25 Oct 2020 - 15:00 to 16:00
Provinciaal Domein Dommelhof, Toekomstlaan 5, 3910 Pelt

The Belgian-Hungarian artist Pauline Mikó makes music with plants. In this workshop she invites artists and the public into her rooted world of sound and electronics. Together you’ll connect several sonic devices to the plants in order to listen to them.

In the Anthropocene epoch, humans have taken over the other species for their detriment, destroying natural environments and badly taking care of a big percentage of the planet. Human impact on the earth has heavily influenced the natural balance between the elements and the organic world. This project aims to question this unbalance; to analyse our habits; to rethink our daily gestures and to allow people to care more for plants and nature in a broader sense.

By creating a sonic dialog between plants and humans, our connection to nature is heightened as a certain awareness is developed: the hand gently touches the leaf in order for sound to be produced and heard. An exchange of energy is transmitted from the human body to the roots of the plants. An invisible, careful and poetic communication is organized between the two species.

This workshop is open for kids!
