Velma Spell (cancelled)

Sat 24 Oct 2020 - 15:00 to 23:00
Provinciaal Domein Dommelhof, Toekomstlaan 5, 3910 Pelt

Velma Spell, the musical collaboration between Liew Niyomkarn & Inne Eysermans investigate how sound is being used in the Air Force and its effects on the population and environments, like considering curbing PSYOP tactics, a sonic virtuality that creates artificial noise, spreading false-information. Velma Spell aims to capture the turmoil of sound in controlling crowds, interrogation, influencing emotions and behavior at the outset. Velma Spell will explore the fictional side of sonic warfare. This performance suggests listening to multiple narratives.

Under the persona Velma Spell, Liew Niyomkarn (USA) and Inne Eysermans (BE) create playful performances and audio essays. Velma Spell combines sound, music, text, objects, electronic devices and the environment together. Possible narratives arise from the spatial composition in which the two workers animate a given space. They draw inspiration from mythological to scientific approaches and documentary material.

In collaboration with C-TAKT and Musica, Impulse Centre for Music.

This performance is part of the parcours program which takes place on saturday 24.10 at Provinciaal Domein Dommelhof and will be performed three times between 15:00 and 23:00.
