Bird and Person Dyning
Lucier's groundbreaking 1976 work is performed by one of his personal assistants, Hauke Harder. 'Bird and Person Dyning' is a playful performance in which Lucier's personal fascination with acoustics and auditory perception is fully expressed. The electronic sound of a toy bird is picked up by binaural microphones on the head. Interference with two speakers creates a whole new world of sound, sometimes through minute movements of the head and body.
Also screening on the same day is "No Ideas But In Things," a documentary about Alvin Lucier by Hauke Harder and Viola Rusche.
